Driving through northern Pennsylvania, I was looking for a place to eat lunch. On the main street in Mansfield, I saw a coffee shop that looked a little bland on the outside. I decided to peek inside. As soon as I walked in, I knew Night and Day Coffee Cafe was the right place.

The inside of Night and Day is bright, colorful, and oozing with character. The walls are covered with pictures and signs, and even the tables were laminated with old signs. What a wonderful place to eat! The cafe is owned by Jessica Ricker. She opened it way back in 2003, fulfilling a childhood dream.
The menu consists of a full Espresso Bar with hot or iced drinks, teas (Coffee Alternatives), Smoothies, Bagels, Salads, and Wraps & Sandwiches .

The Espresso Bar has an assortment of Mochas and Lattes, as well as Cappuccinos, Americanos, and the House Coffee. Chai tea has its own special section of the menu and is available in 7 varieties. There are four choices of bagels, with toppings ranging from butter to hummus, and 11 kinds of bagel sandwiches. Most involve egg and cheese. Other bagel sandwich ingredients include sausage, bacon, avocado, or spinach. Sandwiches can be either hot or grilled. Cold options include Tuna Salad, Curry Chicken Salad, and Fruity Turkey. Some noteworthy grilled sandwiches are: Cuban, Buffalo Chicken, Turkey Ruben, and Black Bean Burrito. Many sandwiches can be made vegetarian.
As I was looking for lunch, my focus was on the sandwich menu. After looking it over, I decided on The Amy. The Amy is a chicken sandwich with bacon, avocado, lettuce, and feta cheese. I was given a choice of bread: white, wheat, or sourdough (or a wrap). I choose wheat. The bread was thick and hearty. And the sandwich was chuck full of fresh ingredients. The chicken in the sandwich consisted of long strips of pulled chicken, giving it a unique texture that I quite liked. All sandwiches come with a side of chips. These turn out to be bagel chips, which I much prefer to potato chips. I loved my sandwich.
As it was a hot summer day, the prospect of getting a hot drink did not appeal to me. But I was drawn to the smoothie section of the menu.
There are both Yogurt Smoothies and Non-Dairy Smoothies. The Yogurt Smoothies are all the same size, about 16 oz, for the bargain price of $5.00. Options include Strawberry Banana, Raspberry Banana, Blueberry Banana, and Mixed Berry Banana. The Non-Dairy options are Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Peach, Wildberry, Mango, Green Apple, and Cherry. I decided the Peanut Butter Banana. It was thick, creamy, and delicious.

Night and Day Coffee Cafe is the perfect coffee shop. Bright, cheery, and full of space, it is a wonderful place to have lunch. The whole time I was there, people kept coming in. And everyone seemed to know everyone else, including the mail carrier. There was a short line when I arrived, but my order was taken fairly quickly. My smoothie came out in a couple of minutes, and my sandwich came out about 6 minutes after that. Much quicker than I was expecting given the crowd. For a great spot to grab lunch or a coffee on Route 15, Night and Day is the place to go.
