Many months ago, a friend mentioned that Matthew's Pizzeria has the best pizza in Baltimore. I was recently in the city for a race. It turned out to be around the corner from Matthew's. This provided the perfect opportunity to check it out.

Jimmy’s Famous Seafood
Jimmy's Famous Seafood is a Baltimore institution. They are well known for their seafood, and I had seen their food trucks, but what brought them to my attention was their charity work during the pandemic. I decided I had to eat at their restaurant. A recent flight into Baltimore offered me the opportunity. Jimmy's Famous Seafood certainly lives up to its reputation, as the seafood ranks among the best I have had.
Ampersea
Some friends were in from out of town and we were looking for a place to dine at. We decided on a place in the neighborhood of Fells Point, right at the edge of the Baltimore harbor. There, we had a great meal at the nautically themed restaurant Ampersea.
Baltimore’s Lexington Market
Public markets are common in Europe, but are rarer in the United States. But many older cities have them. Washington DC has Eastern Market. Buffalo has the Broadway Market. And Baltimore has Lexington Market. For awhile now, I have been meaning to visit the Lexington Market. When it recently reopened in a brand new building, I decided the time was now.
Skipjack’s Crab House
On a recent Friday evening I was in Baltimore for an event, but it got canceled because of a thunderstorm. Needing someplace to eat, I started searching. Eventually I found Skipjack's Restaurant and Sport's Bar in northern Baltimore. They have the best crab cakes I've ever had.

When Guinness opened its brewery in Baltimore in 2018, it was the first time the company had produced beers in the US in 64 years. As soon as you walk in, you realize that the place was designed to be a showcase. If you ever wondered what an industrial scale craft brewery would be like, look no further. This is it.

A place that serves gourmet grilled cheese? I was sceptical. But it turns out Grilled Cheese and Company, in Catonsville MD, is great place to go for the perfect comfort food.
