I am always on the lookout for good Italian delis, as they have some of the best food. In the Little Italy section of Niagara Falls, NY, I found a great one: Scipione's Italian Deli and Catering.
Grezi on Main
In Williamsville, New York a longtime neighborhood bar, Loughrans, had recently closed. In its place is the restaurant Grezi on Main. Having been a patron of the previous establishment, I tried the new place out. Grezi provides a fine dining experience. The food quality is excellent, but the place is very different than the one it replaced.
The Club House
I was meeting a relative for breakfast and was looking for a good place to eat. Near Niagara Falls, in the town of Wheatfield, New York I found the perfect spot. A baseball themed diner that serves terrific food: The Club House.
Lucky Buns
A friend was visiting from out of town and we were having dinner together. He suggested a burger place in Adams Morgan. I soon found out that Lucky Buns has the best burgers in DC.
A Few Days in Copenhagen
I recently spent some time in Copenhagen. The restaurant scene there is quite dynamic and diverse. Incredibly, the city has 28 Michelin starred restaurants. Even without going to any of those, there are plenty of other places to dine and have both Danish food and some of the finest international cuisine.
Philly Cheesesteaks – as recommended by locals
My last article on Philly Cheesesteaks was rightly criticized for mostly covering "tourist" cheesesteak restaurants. However, I received several recommendations in the comments. I went to each one.
Ampersea
Some friends were in from out of town and we were looking for a place to dine at. We decided on a place in the neighborhood of Fells Point, right at the edge of the Baltimore harbor. There, we had a great meal at the nautically themed restaurant Ampersea.
Fox’s Den
A couple of years back, a friend from Annapolis recommended a gastro pub there. When I was looking for a place to eat for an out of town guest, The Fox's Den came to mind. It now tops my list of places to dine in Annapolis!
HCK Hot Chicken
Recently, a new chicken chain opened in Buffalo. I went there the day after it opened. If you like hot, spicty chicken, HCK Hot Chicken is the place for you.
Lake Effect Ice Cream
Lake Effect Ice Cream, a small artisanal ice cream maker in Western New York, has become one of my go to spots for ice cream.
