The Maryland Ice Cream Trail is an initiative of the Maryland Department of Agriculture to promote family owned and operated dairy farms in Maryland. This includes farms on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I drove over 100 miles for ice cream. But it was worth it.
For years a friend has been raving about an Italian restaurant in Rockville MD, saying it has become his go to place for date nights with his wife. Recently, I was at a nearby Marriott attending a convention. Being just a few miles away gave me the opportunity to dine at Il Pizzico. It is every bit as good as my friend said.
On a recent Friday evening I was in Baltimore for an event, but it got canceled because of a thunderstorm. Needing someplace to eat, I started searching. Eventually I found Skipjack's Restaurant and Sport's Bar in northern Baltimore. They have the best crab cakes I've ever had.

In the downtown area of Silver Spring Maryland, Fenton Cafe has been serving fantastic crepes for over a decade. I don't get there often enough, but when I do the food is always fantastic.
Last summer while driving in Silver Spring MD I noticed a new restaurant that was absolutely hopping. I made a mental note to try it out. When I did, I found a very welcoming restaurant with terrific atmosphere and great food.
While there are plenty of Hispanic restaurants in the Washington DC metropolitan area, I have never encountered one that serves Colombian cuisine. Until now. In Silver Spring, Md there is a place that has been doing so for 5 years: Arepas Pues .. !
Whenever I asked friends for restaurant recommendations in Annapolis, Maryland, Jalapeños was always on the list. They serve a combination of Spanish and Mexican food, and that includes tapas. Because of the tapas I held off going there until I had a group, in order to get a good sample. I have finally done so.
