I was near Rockville running an errand. Finishing up around 6:30 PM, I needed a place to eat dinner. A quick search turned up Stella Point Grille, a restaurant bar in Kensington that was exactly what I was looking for!

When I arrived at the restaurant, I was surprised at how crowded it was. It was as weeknight and I was expecting the place to be nearly empty. Maybe because it was the Monday night special or the fact it was the day before a holiday, the place was packed. Nevertheless, I was seated right away and my order was quickly taken.
The menu
Stella Point Grilled has typical pub fare, but its menu is more extensive than you would expect. It contains a wide selection of Appetizers, Salads, and Sandwiches, plus a small selection of Entrees. The appetizers range from Shrimp, Wings, and Nachos to Gyro Tacos and Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. They have Caesar and Chopped salads, but there others, including Thai Chicken, Greek, and Backyard BBQ. Entrees include Crab Cakes, Fish And Chips, Chicken Parmesan, and NY Strip.
My meal
Monday night is $10 burger night, which is a very good deal. The selection of burgers was tempting, but what drew me to the restaurant was one of their pizzas, the Fig and Prosciutto, and I felt compelled to order it. I’ve had fig topped pizzas before, and they often disappoint. Not here! The pizza was covered with figs thinly sliced, giving it the strong fig taste I was looking for. And there was a plentiful amount of goat cheese, Enough so that you know it is there without dominating the taste. The prosciutto and a balsamic glaze provided nice accents, while the arugula spread on top gave it a nice bit of green. The crust was crisp and chewy. Overall, a fantastic pizza. I highly recommend it.
For an appetizer, I ordered a cup of the Soup of the Day, which was cream of crab. The soup was creamy and had a decent amount of crab. However, there was also a fair amount of shells in the soup. That was a major distraction. The flavor was good, but I would not order it again.
Dessert
Stella Point Grille had three desserts: Funnel Fries, Brownie Sundae, and Churro Cake. I chose the Brownie Sundae. The brownie was excellent. It had a fudge like consistency and a strong chocolate taste. The ice cream was quite good as well, smooth and creamy without being overpowering. It complemented the dense brownie quite well. I did not care for the whipped cream or the chocolate sauce; both tasted commercially made and not in house. But the quality of the brownie and ice cream more than compensated for those deficiencies. I would order this again.
Ambience

Stella Point Grille has the looks of a sports bar, with television screens on all the walls, a big bar area, and both high and regular size tables. And it was loud like a sports bar. Yet, it had more of the ambience of a family restaurant. There were many families with kids there. And many customers seemed to know each other. The back part of the restaurant had a fire place, giving the place a cozy atmosphere. The service was excellent. I needed time to look at the menu, but without too much of a delay the waiter came back and took my order. My plates were promptly cleared and I was regularly checked on to see if I needed anything. Stella Point Grille is a great place for quality food and a quick meal.
