I was on a road trip, and came to the point where I needed to find a place to eat. I decided to stop in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, just north of the Maryland border on Interstate 83. The place I was planning on eating at was closed at that time. Fortunately, I found nearby a great family restaurant in Taylor Haus Family Restaurant.

Taylor Haus has a full menu with appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, subs (both hot and cold), a couple of Italian dishes (mainly Spaghetti and Chicken or Veal Parmesan), and a smattering of entrees. Some of the other customers had commented that Taylor Haus has the best chicken around, but I had already ordered my meal at that point. I ordered the pork chop special, which came with a side. I chose an apple cranberry salad. You can get the special with one or two pork chops, and I went with one.
The pork chop was amazing! It was juicy and succulent and had a flavorful glaze; exactly how a pork chop should be but so rarely is. The apple cranberry salad was delicious as well, having just the right combination of sweet and sour. It was the perfect complement to the pork chop.

Taylor Haus has a wide variety of desserts, including assorted cakes or pies, and/or ice cream. I again chose the special of the day, apple dumpling a la mode. I was served a generously sized dumpling, nice and hot, It tasted like it came right out of the oven. The sauce was delicious, with a strong but not overpowering cinnamon taste. I could have used a little more of the sauce, as I ran out of it and the dumpling was a little bland without it. Fortunately, I had the ice cream which complemented it nicely.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Taylor Haus. The food was delicious and quite reasonably priced and the service was prompt and courteous. I now have two favorite restaurants in Stewartstown!
