The year 2020 has not been good for restaurants. As a consequence of the pandemic, many long standing institutions have been forced to close. Here are some personal favorites that have closed and links to articles that provide tributes both to them and to others.
Greek in Metro Maryland
Maryland has many great Greek restaurants. Many can be found in Greektown in Baltimore. But you don't have to travel that far from DC to get some. Here are some of my favorites. They can be found in the cities of Silver Spring, College Park, and Beltsville MD.

Situated in a 1950s era gas station in the farmlands of Scaggsville, Md, Pepperjacks Subs serves the best sandwiches and milk shakes around.
Lone Oak Farm Brewing Co
Just outside of Washington DC in the farmlands of Northern Maryland there are some great breweries. With scenic views in an historic setting, Lone Oak Farms Brewing Company is one of them.
Cedars of Lebanon
Winning the lottery helped this favorite Greenbelt chef to return in his own restaurant, offering his signature Lebanese food.
Mandalay Restaurant
Mandalay has been a favorite restaurant of mine for decades. What makes it unique is that it serves Burmese food. Having consistently high quality food, I go back to it again and again. Mandalay Restaurant is located in Silver Spring, Maryland.

A beloved Takoma Park, Maryland institution. Roscoe's Neapolitan Pizzeria is actually named after a rooster.
Grilled Cheese & Co
A place that serves gourmet grilled cheese? I was sceptical. But it turns out Grilled Cheese and Company, in Catonsville MD, is great place to go for the perfect comfort food.
