One of my favorite places to dine, Mandalay Restaurant, has a related eatery in Georgetown. I was in the area recently for a festival and made it a point to try it out. Bandoola Bowl lives up to their reputation.
French Twist Cafe
Several years ago I was in Sykesville MD, eating at one of my favorite ice cream parlors, when a local recommended a crepe restaurant around the corner. Recently I was in the area when it was open. So of course I had to try them out. It was a great recommendation, as the French Twist Cafe is a delight!
Bistro 93
On a mild summer evening I was looking for a restaurant with outdoor seating to have a relaxing dinner. In Akron, NY at the pleasant little Bistro 93 I found the perfect place.
Sprinkles Creamery
I was looking for some ice cream after an outing in Akron, New York. A quick search turned up Sprinkles Creamery in nearby Corfu. A rustic little ice cream stand located in the middle of the New York countryside, Sprinkles has great ice cream, unique confections, and a great view.
Brookland Pint
I first stopped at Brookland Pint on a Friday evening last winter, looking for a place to eat that was still open and was not too far out of my way. Located right next to the Catholic University metro stop, Brookland Pint fit the bill. I liked it so much that I've come back again and again.
Mt Desert Island Ice Cream
I was in Mt Pleasant heading towards a festival when I happened across Mt Desert Island Ice Cream that appeared quite popular. I made note of it and returned after the festival. A sign proudly declares "Fearless Flavor." Mt Desert takes that seriously, as they have flavors that can be found nowhere else. I now have a new favorite ice cream shop.
Fenton Cafe Coffee and Crepes
In the downtown area of Silver Spring Maryland, Fenton Cafe has been serving fantastic crepes for over a decade. I don't get there often enough, but when I do the food is always fantastic.

In Philadelphia, the rivalry between Pat's King of Steaks and Geno's Steaks, located right across the street from each other, is famous. But whose cheeesteak is the best? Pat's? Geno's? Or someplace else?
Call Your Mother – A Jew-ish Deli
I first had Call Your Mother bagels at a charity I volunteer at, as they regularly donate bags of bagels. Their bagels were quite distinctive, so I made a mental note to eat at one of their locations. As good as their bagels are, fresh from the oven they are even better.
El Sapo – Cuban Social Club
Last summer while driving in Silver Spring MD I noticed a new restaurant that was absolutely hopping. I made a mental note to try it out. When I did, I found a very welcoming restaurant with terrific atmosphere and great food.
