A relaxed bistro near the center of old town Kensington MD, serving food that is just superb.
In East Aurora, New York there's a hot new ice cream parlor serving house made ice cream. I journeyed there, about 20 minutes south of Buffalo, to see if it lives up to the hype. It most certainly does.
Every 17 years, millions of Cicada emerge from the ground in order to reproduce. 2021 is one of those years they appear. Where I live, these little insects are everywhere. And even if you don't see them, you can hear them. But can you eat them? Here are a few places that have had some fun with Cicadas, culinary wise.
Georgian food is one of the more unusual types of cuisines that you can find in DC. Not from the state of Georgia, mind you. Georgia the Eastern European country. Supra has been a main stay of DC for years. But recently the owners managed to open a second restaurant, Tabla. Both serve superb food.

I was in the mood for some British pub food. After some searching I found an authentic looking one right in the heart of DC: Elephant & Castle. So that is where I went. I am glad I did.
Texas style barbecue is hard to get in the Washington DC metro area. While there are a couple of places, it's hard to find one my friends from Texas consider authentic. Enter 2 Fifty BBQ, in Riverdale, MD. They not only do Texas style BBQ, they do it well.
I love eating at diners. They are not only great places to get comfort food, but also a good way to experience a city's local culture. Over the years, I have been to many diners at many places throughout the US. Here are my favorites.
I recently discovered a great casual restaurant in Washington DC that not only has managed to survive the pandemic, but is expanding to new locations. While new to me, Half-Smoke has been in the Shaw neighborhood of DC since 2016. Not only do they have a great selection of meats, but great cocktails and appetizers as well.
